Peres Releases Christmas Message

President Shimon Peres issued a Christmas message on Thursday, addressed to Christian communities in Israel and around the world. The message was filmed at the President's House in Jerusalem and posted on Youtube:

by Gil Ronen(Israelnationalnews.com) Rabbi Meir Avshalom Chai, 40, of Shavei Shomron, was mortally wounded in the head Thursday afternoon when terrorists fired at the car he was traveling in, between the Jewish communities of Shavei Shomron and Einav in Samaria, west of Shechem, according to preliminary reports.
A spokesperson for Shavei Shomron said that Rabbi Meir Chai worked as an educator at the local school and kindergarten, and that the children were very attached to him. He lived in the community for 14 years and was considered a wise Torah scholar, modest and well-loved.

A large force of Israeli soldiers and police has started searching for the terrorists, who escaped the scene.
Magen David Adom emergency services declared the victim of the shooting dead late Thursday afternoon.
Rabbi Chai was a father of seven children. He was driving on route 57 when terrorists opened fire on him. His car overturned and he was mortally wounded. His wife and a young son were found in good physical condition by Israeli troops, a short time after the shooting, near Einav. Until they were found, security forces were concerned that the terrorists had tried to abduct the two.
Fatah faction: we did it
The Al-Aksa Martyrs' Brigades of Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah faction said Thursday evening they were the ones who carried out the terror slaying.
The Bethlehem-based Maan news agency says terrorists from a group named after slain Hizbullah terrorist Imad Mughniyeh carried out the attack and escaped. %ad%
The murder was the first fatality in a terror attack in more than seven months. The last terror murder victim was Gregory Rabinovitch, 56, a taxi driver murdered May 10 near Gan Yavneh. Two months after the murder, security forces reported that it was carried out by terrorists.

Key Checkpoint Near Shavei Shomron Removed a Week before Attack

The government of Israel preferred 'the Palestinian fabric of life' to its citizens' rights."
An unnamed IDF officer told Haaretz that the terrorists who murdered Rabbi Chai most likely escaped through the abandoned checkpoint, which was removed shortly before the murder.
The IDF's removal of roadblocks is widely perceived as a gesture toward US President Barack Obama, who has pressured Israel to make Arabs' "fabric of life" as comfortable as possible.
Last Thursday, soldiers removed the concrete cubes and metal gate that made up the roadblock north of Shechem, near Shavei Shomron, despite pleas by Samaria residents to the IDF not to remove it. The removal means that traffic between Shechem and Tulkarm now flows without any security monitoring. Another IDF checkpoint on the road, at Beit Iba at the northern exit from Shechem, was removed several months ago.
Upon receiving news of the attack, MK Yaakov Katz (Ketzaleh) of the National Union said that "this is the first payment of the the 'at any price' of the Shalit deal, even before the deal has been carried out. The tracks lead to Netanyahu who is willing to release arch-murderers but freezes the lives of Jews and opens roadblocks, thus encouraging the terror he is surrendering to."
The Kommemiyut movement reacted to the murder by saying: "The blood of the murdered man is on the hands of the Defense Secretary and the Prime Minister, who have carried out a morally corrupt policy of turning the beloved into an enemy, and the enemy into a loved one. It is time to wake up from illusions and from diplomatic adventures for which Jews and their families pay with their lives."
'Blame Shalit deal'
MK Dr. Michael Ben-Ari (NU) said after the attack that "Netanyahu's path of surrender, the opening of roadblocks, the construction freeze and the freeing of terrorists signal to the terror that Jewish blood is free for the taking. The terrorist who committed the murder probably thought that he would make it to jail in time to be freed in the Shalit terrorist freedom deal. Bibi surrenders to terror."
Efrat Mayor, Lt-Col (res) Oded Revivi said after the attack that "the Arabs in their twisted way have adopted the slogan 'they will get as much as they give' [coined by Netanyahu in his first term as prime minister – ed.]. The more concessions we give them, the more murder we get."
MK Danny Danon said: "There should be an inquiry into whether or not today's terror attack was the result of Defense Minister Ehud Barak's policy of redirecting security forces to act against construction and residents, and not against terror."
The Yesha Council said that the terror murder was "a direct result of the policy of easing [the pressure] on Palestinians, removal of essential roadblocks in Samaria and the transfer of security authority to those from whose ranks many terrorists have emerged and murdered Jews. As in similar cases in the past, the gestures to Abu Mazen again cost Jewish blood."

Benedict calmly resumed his walk to the basilica's main altar and began the Mass.
Ms Benedettini said the woman who pushed the Pope appeared to be mentally unstable and had been arrested by Vatican police.
She also knocked down Cardinal Roger Etchegaray, who was taken to hospital for a check-up, she added.
The 82-year-old Pope quickly got up and was unhurt, his spokesman said.
As the Pope's procession was making its way towards the main altar gasps rang out through the public and a commotion could be seen among the clergymen surrounding Benedict. The procession came to a halt and bodyguards rushed to the trouble spot.
Benedict made no reference to the incident as the service started.
As a choir sang, he sprinkled incense on the main altar before opening the service with the traditional wish for peace in Latin: "Pax vobis" ("Peace be with you"). The faithful responded: "Et cum spiritu tuo" ("And also with you").
It was the second year in a row there was a security breach at the service. At the end of last year's Mass a woman who had jumped the barriers got close to the Pope but was quickly brought to he ground by security. Benedettini said it was not immediately known if the same woman was behind the latest incident.
This one is even better: mayhem, humiliation! He really did get knocked down - apparently he fell all over her - despite heated denials by some. She might be mentally unstable, but she sure appears extremely fit for a crazy lunatic: she looks more like a militant than a lunatic in this clip.
His fall reminds me of Haman falling all over Queen Esther: may his fate be the same as Haman's!
